Leberzentrum München
Munich

Liver Center

The center was founded by German hepatologists Dr. Maria-Christiana Jung and Dr. Gottfried Fischer.

Dr. Maria-Christiana Jung specializes in mechanisms of liver injury in chronic infectious-inflammatory diseases (viral hepatitis B and C). Her research focuses on preventing disease progression using new conservative, immunomodulatory approaches.

Dr. Gottfried Fischer specializes in advanced diagnostic technologies and pharmacologic treatment of acute and chronic liver diseases.

The center is equipped with everything needed to establish a precise and comprehensive diagnosis and to initiate treatment promptly.

Additionally, the Munich Hepatology Center participates in multidisciplinary consultations on liver-related complications with specialists from cardiology, hematology, endocrinology, and other relevant fields.

Most commonly treated conditions include:

  • Chronic viral hepatitis (hepatitis B, C, and delta-associated infection)
  • Liver cirrhosis
  • Alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
  • Consequences of exposure to hepatotoxic substances
  • Genetic disorders that lead to irreversible liver damage, and others
