Professor Oxenkühn's professional interests include the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic gastrointestinal disorders, as well as the causes of these conditions. He works extensively on the management and diagnostics of Crohn’s disease and various forms of colitis. In 2011, his clinical and research experience led to the creation of the European Foundation for Crohn’s and Colitis. Thanks to this initiative, Prof. Oxenkühn and his team have advised and treated a large number of patients. Since 2012, he has been the head physician of the Center for Crohn’s Disease and Colitis at ISAR Klinikum.

In 2013, Prof. Oxenkühn was listed by Focus magazine among recognized specialists in gastroenterology.

In addition, Prof. Oxenkühn conducts research; under his supervision, many scientific papers have been published on Crohn’s disease and the treatment of ulcerative colitis. In 2009, he published a book on dietary guidance for lactose intolerance.
