  • Completed medical studies in Freiburg, Munich, and Basel; specialist training at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (director: Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. mult. G. Plewig)
  • Recognized as a specialist in dermatology and venereology on 6 November 1997; additional qualification in allergology on 27 August 1999
  • Two-year habilitation scholarship within the "Higher Education and Research Program III" at LMU Munich; successfully completed the habilitation on 26 November 2003 and, on 19 January 2004, was appointed Privatdozentin (associate professor)
  • 2004 − 2011 Senior physician, Department of Dermatology and Allergology (director: Prof. Dr. med. T. Bieber), University of Bonn; on 18 June 2008, obtained the additional qualification "Medical Tumor Therapy"
  • In addition to a focus on high-resolution ultrasound imaging of lymph nodes and skin tumors, she headed the Dermato-Oncology Unit and the Cologne-Bonn Comprehensive Cancer Center melanoma program in Bonn
  • Author of numerous scientific articles and books; reviewer for the German Cancer Society and leading journals
  • Professional memberships include the German Dermatological Society (DDG), German Cancer Society (DKG), Working Group for Dermatologic Oncology (ADO), and the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM), among others. Prof. Schmidt-Wendtner teaches high-frequency sonography at DEGUM and serves as deputy press officer
  • Appointed lecturer in dermatology at LMU Munich on 16 March 2010
  • Since January 2012: private practice at the Interdisciplinary Oncology Center (IOZ) in Munich
